I have high regards for my sensei (eventhough he doesn’t know me). He’s my inspiration.

Japanese Anime Films Become Candidates for Academy Award Nominees

On November 11th the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced the 20 candidates that are being considered as nominees for the Academy Award of Best Animated Film to be presented at the 82nd Academy Awards held on March 7th. The list included director Miyazaki Hayao’s 崖の上のポニョ / Ponyo‘ and the computer animated ‘ATOM‘ based on the manga series ‘鉄腕アトム / Astro Boy‘ by Tezuka Osamu.
The Best Animated Film category was introduced in 2001. Since computer animated films have become popular, every year the number of candidates for nominees has steadily increased. This year a record breaking 20 candidates were chosen. One of the candidates that are said to have a good chance of being chosen as a nominee is Disney and Pixar‘s ‘カールじいさんの空飛ぶ家 /
‘ that earned 500 million dollars worldwide. The other likely winners are ‘アイス・エイジ3 ティラノのおとしもの / Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs‘ and ‘くもりときどきミートボール /
